General Options

General options includes many important options to the GS Typing Tutor. You could change the keyboard layout, your target, the error factor and other options.
(If you'd like to use the one-handed typing course, you should choose a one-handed keyboard layout here to activate.)

Target
Specifies the realistic target for you. If you are likely to type occasionally, you could aim at the base level(30WPM), or aim at 45 WPM or plus if you'd like to be a typist.

Error factor
The error factor will affect the typing net speed which is computed by the formula:
Net Speed = ( total hits - error hits * Error Factor ) / duration

Passed accuracy
Specifies the passed accurcy value. If your accuracy in a exercise or test is lower than the value, you'll get a bad comments.

Keyboard layout
Specifies a keyboard layout which matches the one you are using. To activate the one-handed typing course, you have to select the one-handed keyboard layout, it can be Dvorak Left Hand, Dvorak Right Hand, English US Left Hand, English US Right Hand.

Show lesson window after logging in
Specifies whether to enter the typing course section after logging into GS Typing Tutor.

Always use current user name to log in
The step of logging into GS Typing Tutor will be redundant when the program is used by one people only. You may check the option to bypass the Login Window at launching GS Typing Tutor.

Print a diploma as soon as the test is completed
With the option checked, the diploma will be printed immediately once you complete a typing test, otherwise, you have to click the button "View/Print Diploma" to print the diploma.

Show the print dialog before actually printing
Specifies whether to show the Print Options Dialog before actually printing. The Print Options Dialog enables the user changing the paper size, choosing another printer and etc.

Sound on
Specifies the sound on or off.

Music on
Specifies the music on or off.

Show unit of typing speed as
Specifies the unit of the typing speed, it can be WPM or CPM. 1 WPM(Words per Minute) = 5 CPM(Characters per Minute)
